Sparton console radio This is a Spartan console radio that belonged to my grandmother. My father bought it for her before he went off to the war (WW2). At the college I attended, the electronics lab had a huge stash of tubes which I used to replace the worn-out ones. I also refinished the cabinet and replaced the grille cloth. When I first turned it on, they were playing big band tunes. For a moment, my wife and I thought we were in the Twilight Zone. However, the radio had nothing to do with my present love of Old Time Radio, since at the time, I was unaware that it existed. My first exposure to OTR was by a cassette of a Lights Out episode bought at the gift shop of the Chattanooga Choo-Choo. It rang a bell because I remembered seeing ads in the back of the Famous Monsters of Filmland magazines I bought as a kid offering LP's of the show. But it wasn't until after I had a computer and access to the web that I discovered the huge variety of programs that were every bit as varied as the TV programs I grew up with. This website was created to share my growing collection of programs with those, like myself, who believe that TV will never be able to compete with the "Theater of the Mind".
